Sight-seeing on Langkawi...

Located on the southwest coast of the main island, about 30 minutes drive from Kuah Town is the mountain Gunung Machinchang.  The Langkawi cable-car route links the base to the Peak Station on top of the mountain. The 20 minutes journey you take in a four-seater cable car silently ascends the height over a distance of 2.2 kilometres.

The cable-car reaches a first platform where you alight and board another cable-car that takes you to the main observatory platform on the peak. Once at the peak, you have a fantastic view of Langkawi Island and Andaman Sea. On another corner a short walk away, is a steel bridge suspended between two mountains which you can cross.

The Galeria Perdana at Kilim, about 11 km from Kuah, houses an impressive collection of over 2,500 state gifts and awards presented to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, YBhg. Datin Seri Dr. Siti Hasmah bt. Mohd. Ali.

The exhibits include fine crystalware and gifts fashioned out of wood, leather, silver, copper, pewter, ceramics and glass. There are also musical instruments, Islamic art and craft, textiles and weapons. A part of the display includes various vehicles incuding 4-wheel drives and an F1 car.
