Since we decided our schedule allowed for another day at Admiral Marina, we took the opportunity for a sleep in, a morning swim and then getting our laundry collected. Eky and I walked to a tackle shop just near the marina and picked up another large ice box for the boat. Afterwards, dad and I caught a cab to Port
Dickson for some shopping. Dinner at the "Sailors Drink Shop" and another swim afterwards followed by a few drinks on board saw the end of a relaxing day.
On the morning of the 18th we sailed out early after filling our water tanks and were soon caught in some inclement weather that lasted several hours. We made good time however and anchored at 02'28.75N, 101'50.40E - this should see us past Singapore tomorrow late afternoon.
19th - This morning we left at daybreak and encountered more heavy rain for several hours, however we made good time and passed Singapore around 16:00hrs. Traffic around Singapore is definitely the busiest we have encountered so far, and there are a huge number of ships anchored along the edge of the Traffic Separation Scheme channel. After trying to check in unsuccessfully at Raffles Marina, part of Singapore, on account of not having cleared out of Malaysia, we continued up the river (and under the bridge linking Malaysia and Singapore) and moored in Puteri Marina for the night. This is a very new marina, beautifully landscaped and we enjoyed a decent feed before returning to the boat.
